The plot: Letting Go, Letting Come Shereen was determined to have a 'couple of outdoor shots' as part of her journey portrait. The weather gods were in full cooperation despite the stories the forecasters were promoting. Undeterred by the perils of extreme heat and humidity warnings, we pushed on.
Suppose we'd heeded the stories and ignored our intuitions. In that case, we'd never even have considered the potentials, let alone imagined the pure alchemy that unfolded that afternoon in the mighty Trent Severn here in the quiet haven of Campbellford.
I learned a long time ago that often we must put ourselves out of our comfort zone to reach a new level of consciousness. Shereen indeed moved out of her comfort zone as she began to unravel her painful story.
All we needed to do was to hold steady in our intention of unconditionality and follow our intuition. Divine intervention is the only way to describe this 90-minute window of time. We ignored severe weather warnings and found ourselves braving the elements only to witness the temperatures dropping, the humidity diminishing, and the clouds parting just enough to create soft diffusion and the perfect amount of illumination, WITHIN AND WITHOUT.
Ask, (without conditions or expectations) and you shall receive.
A photographic portrait experience does not need to be nerve wracking or painfully efficient. I can be cathartic, dreamy and nurturing.
