little pressie! We stand on the tender threshold of the Spring Equinox THURSDAY MARCH 20, 10 AM ET | 7AM PT- a time when light and dark do a precarious two-step, equal parts of a grand design. In this pause between winter’s wintering and spring’s promise, you may sense both
excitement and unease. The waiting can be a sweet ache. The renewal can be both a relief and a wake-up call, stirring possibilities you’d nearly forgotten. If you are wanting to observe this celestial event tomorrow, I got you! Below you will find relevant self-inquiry and a simple Taoist influenced ritual! Also, you’ll find bite-sized morsels on what’s stirring at Open Inward - some new beginnings, some deeper turns in the road, and the invitation for you to walk along if you’re ready.
1. A New Digital HearthFor a long time, I wrestled with WordPress-the old site that held me, shaped me, and whispered my work’s early stories since the beginning. But as 2024 drew to its final breath, I felt the restlessness that comes when a boundary no longer fits. In its place stands a fresh new website, something playful and whimsical because life is both solemn and mischievous. Let this new home be a place to settle in, sip tea, and linger in the
words unhurried.
Somewhere along the journey, words pressed into my chest, longing for a more intimate conversation. Thus, The Murmur & The Muse podcast was born. Week by week or so, I speak directly into the
silence, imagining your dear ear pressed close. Four episodes in, I realize it’s not about having a polished “show” but a living, breathing exchange. You are the living audience of my reflections, meditations, and self-inquiry. Thank you for listening. If you have an idea you'd like me to explore, lets connect!
- Spoken words can offer a deeper intimacy than social posts
- Consistency matters less than honesty of
voice
3. Going Submarine on Social MediaDisenchanted, I’ve drifted away from the social media stage. In an age of AI infiltration and pay-to-play algorithms, I prefer genuine conversation over endless scrolls. To keep the spirit real, you’ll find me more often through this newsletter, blogs and the podcast - spaces that feel more like a warm hearth than a corporate echo chamber. - Authenticity thrives where real voices are
honoured
- Not every trend is worth chasing - value your sense of alignment
And with that, a word of gratitude: personal referrals remain the backbone of my practice. This old-world kindness is a testament to the reciprocity that still binds
us together. Yes please, keep em coming... My thanks are truly boundless. xoxo
4. Grief as an Uneasy TeacherIn December, my sister passed. I wrote my heart out in candid blog posts, some I never published for fear I was too raw and edgy. Many of you let me know it helped you face your own losses. There’s a tender solidarity in that. Her departure cracked open a chamber of grief - some of it older than her final breath, stretching back to my husband’s passing in 2018. Yet, in that rawness, I found an unexpected deepening of intuition, creativity,
and communion with what I call “Source Energy.” I have more to words on grieving, death and dying to purge through but not today. - Grief’s fiercest gift is to show us the uncluttered shape of our hearts
- The forging that comes from loss can be an initiation into a deeper calling

SPRING EQUINOX Self-Inquiry and Ritual
We stand at that precarious hinge the ancients named the Equinox—a fragile, fleeting pause where daylight and nightfall weigh the scales in equal measure. Think of it as a cosmic breath,
asking not for your tidy compliance but for an honest reckoning:
Where in your life do you clutch winter’s 'hibernation', and where might spring coax a
hidden seed from its slumber? Taoist lore speaks of the Way that needs neither forcing nor avoidance. And so here you are, met by the season itself,
beckoning you to unfurl your own quiet potential. Opportunity - This cosmic balance can gently pry open
a sense of renewal.
- A chance to see grief and gratitude as two hands of the same body.
- The strength of the season lies not in fanfare but in the slow turning of a wheel toward something new.
Challenge - Letting your old stories - and the comfort they provide - fall away.
- Embracing the quiet pause, when much in the world scrambles for noise.
- Facing that small voice within that longs for a different kind of life.
Self-Inquiry: Preparing for the Spring Equinox Where in Me Does the Light Struggle to Rise? - Look to the corners where you’ve drawn the curtains. Could you ease them open, just a crack, to let in the first rays of something untried?
What Am I Still Carrying That Might Be Laid to Rest? - Name the unfulfilled vows, the half-known griefs. Their weight was once a comfort, now it’s a cost. Let the Equinox be your permission to set them down.
How Might I Let Spring Teach Me the Art of Yielding? - Taoism suggests wu wei, the dance of non-forcing. Ask yourself where you can bow to what is instead of wrestling with what isn’t.
Who Am I Becoming in This Season of Balance? - Imagine yourself on the threshold: the person you’ve been behind you, the one you’re becoming just out of sight. Dare to behold the in-between.
What
Gifts Do My Inner Winters Offer My Looming Springs? - Reflect on how your darker days might fertilize the fields of your future. Even the ashes of old grief can be soil for tomorrow’s bloom.
A Simple Taoist-Influenced RitualFind a Humble Space, within and without - Let it be a corner of your room or a quiet patch of earth. There’s no need for grand altars; humility often opens deeper doors. Clear away any clutter and unnecessary tools. Let your body register the new emptiness.
Stand in the Balance - Plant your feet. Let your spine rise like a tree trunk, shoulders relaxed. Take three long, deliberate breaths—breathing in the mystery of the Equinox, breathing out any attempt to dominate or control.
Name the Seed - In your palms, cradle a real seed or a written intention. Whisper the possibility it holds: “I see you. I’m willing to tend you, come what may.” Feel the small weight of it as both fragile and immeasurably potent.
Honour Light and Dark - Light a modest candle or set a small stone in a cup of water—whatever simple humble elemental tokens you choose. Let the flame speak of daytime’s unrelenting clarity, and the water of night’s hidden depths. Pause, and sense that both live in you.
Offer and Receive - Gently place the seed in a dish of soil, or bury it into the earth. Resist the urge to see quick results. Instead, trust that below the surface, subtle wonders unfold. Touch the soil; let it remind you of life’s cycle of burials and rebirths.
Close with Gratitude - Bow your head or press your palms together. Thank the season, your own breath, and all the times you almost didn’t make it here but did. Drink a small cup of water or tea, letting each sip carry the promise of gentle renewal.
In this ceremony, you commune with the silent turn of the seasons, honouring the slow pivot toward light without forsaking the lessons gleaned in the dark. May your offering be simple, your questions honest, and your harvest unexpected.
